Since 2013, ReelAbilities Pittsburgh has brought our community together to explore and celebrate the lives and stories of individuals living with disabilities. In addition to presenting award-winning contemporary films, the festival hosts an art exhibit featuring work by artists living with disabilities as well as engaging post-film discussions with special guests from disability communities who bring to life the films’ themes.

The Pittsburgh Silent Film Society (PSFS) was founded in 2013 to help foster and promote silent film exhibition with live musical accompaniment in Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania. PSFS launched the Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival in 2023, partnering with 8 venues to show 9 films. This year's 3rd annual festival will feature 10 films at 9 different venues in and around Pittsburgh.
Works from the National Academy of Design, alongside pieces from The Westmoreland’s collection by National Academicians, offer a unique narrative of American art from the 1800s to today. The exhibition includes portraits, as well as other works, by artists from both the Academy and the Museum’s collection, including Thomas Eakins, Henry Ossawa Tanner, and John Singer Sargent. Since its founding in 1825, each elected National Academician has donated a work to the collection, including portraits of members—either self-painted or created by fellow artists.
